Frost Children - SISTER:

Position Famous: Oh, interesting, this kinda gives rock type vibes. At least with the vocals. Not really what I expected but I'm intrigued. I enjoyed the changeup towards the end. Fun production. Honestly, that was probably the best part. I did like this overall though. 7/10

Falling: This is some pretty enjoyable electronic production! I feel like songs with this type of sound are often songs I just enjoy. Ohhh, another fun switchup near the end. 7/10

ELECTRIC: Pretty enjoyable again! I enjoy the screamy type vocals with this production. Just works well for me. 7/10

CONTROL: Honestly, this feels pretty similar to Babymorocco to me now that I think about it. Probably the best comparison! I enjoyed his work so makes sense I would enjoy this. Like the heavy production and aggressive vocals. 7/10

Bound2U: Thought this was going to be a slow song for a lot of it. Unfortunately the slower bits are less good, and there's a lot more of them, so I did not enjoy this as much. Still decent though! 6/10

WHAT IS FOREVER FOR: A good question. I feel like this one was slightly more of a miss for me as well. It's a bit cringe, almost like a bit cringe emo core or something like that? 6/10

Sister: Well this is cringe emo type stuff. But also light? Weird. Will it switchup? I guess it did a bit but I wasn't mega gagged by this song sadly. Was pleasant enough though. 6/10

Dirty Girl: I don't know what it is as I progress but I'm definitely feeling this less. Nice listen, cool production...but also...eh. 6/10

RADIO (feat. Kim Petras): Not sure I really felt Kim here. And again, I've definitely lost the enjoyment I had earlier. Again, some interesting production, but it's just lost something sadly. 6/10

Don't Make Me Cry: Did I misjudge the first part of the album or did it just start sucking more? This is too 'cutesy' almost in a lot of it, if that makes sense? Makes me enjoy it less, but it's still somewhat enjoyable. 6/10

Ralph Lauren (feat. Babymorocco): Come on Babymorocco don't fail me. Honestly, I did enjoy this song more. It had more interesting production again and was a fun listen! It's all totally down to Babymorocco. 7/10

Blue Eyes: This was good yet again! Like, where was this energy earlier? So maybe it was just a really dud middle of the album, which sucks. Great production again. 7/10

4ME: Cool start. I think the vocal effects throughout this just did not majorly work for me. It felt more mediocre. It dragged it down a lot. And the production was a lot more 'boring' too. 5/10

2 LØVE: Very cool start production wise. Also, was that an alarm sound? I really like chopped vocals like this. May well be the best song if it carries on. It was less good as it switched up but still pretty good. 8/10

Overall Verdict: Sadly, there was a big chunk in the middle of the album where, although I still liked the songs somewhat, they fell off compared to before. I would have liked it if the album was more like the first part and some of the later songs too. In that, there was super interesting production, and I think it was an interesting hyperpop, heavy electronic type album, perhaps mixed in with some punk-ish influences in places. Those songs were bops. However, unfortunately, some of the ones in the middle felt like they lacked something, they were pleasant listens...but didn't quite reach the levels of the other songs. Maybe it got a bit stale? Definitely an uneven listen.

JADE - THAT'S SHOWBIZ BABY!:

Angel Of My Dreams: To think it's been so long since this released...girl, why did it take so long? Anyway...let's go. This is a stunning song. Just...catchy. It has great production, great vocals, a catchy chorus, and we love a key change. The ending is great. 8/10

IT girl: This has grown on me a lot. I really do like the very first bit the most but the rest of it is pretty banging too. KITTY GOT FANGS, KITTY GOT CLAWS. The chorus is infectious, and the production in the verses eats too. 8/10

FUFN (Fuck You For Now): Well, this is the best song of all time. Confirmed. No debate needed. Okay, it's not quite at that level. BUT, IT'S SO GOOD. Definitely my favourite of the pre release singles. It's all just...fantastic. Boppery the whole way through. Again, vocals on point. Passionate song. Great production. 9/10

Plastic Box: This was a song I didn't really click with at first. However, it grew on me hugely. It's such a good song actually! It's catchy in a more lowkey way. And I refuse to do any cringe dances. 8/10

Midnight Cowboy: I disliked this at first too. But I like it a fair bit now. The production is actually quite catchy. And good vocals as ever. We don't talk about that song Fantasy though. 7/10

Fantasy: It's not bad but I still don't really connect with this song that much even though it's more 'upbeat' than some of the other songs. It's not bad though. 6/10

Unconditional: It's actually crazy how half of the album was released on singles, and it took over a year from the lead single. Anyway... ended Katy Perry. Has some interesting production. 7/10

Self Saboteur: Hmm, not a big fan of the vocals here. They're a bit high for me. But it's still an enjoyable song regardless. I can see myself listening to it a lot more.  7/10

Lip Service: This is catchyyy. The way she sings "Lip Service". Pretty good stuff! Great production as well.  8/10

Headache: This is another bop! Enjoyed the production here. It's a really fun sound. 8/10

Natural at Disaster: This starts off as a slow song, but then does a major switchup. I really enjoyed it. The production here is fantastic. Some of the lyrics in the beginning feel a bit clunky but that's okay. That's not the coolest part of the song anyway. The intense parts of the production, the vocals, it all comes together very well. 8/10

Glitch: Again, really cool production. I really enjoyed it. Feels almost a bit spacey, also has somewhat R&B vibes I think? 8/10

Before You Broke My Heart: Okay miss sample. I see you. The sample works very well in my view. Great song! 8/10

Silent Disco: This is a good final track for the album. It fits well. Not sure I felt it as much as some of the others but it's still good. 7/10

Overall Verdict: This is one of my top 10 albums of the year. A friend of mine predicted that would happen, and it did indeed! JADE just has a knack for pop music, and making fantastic pop music. I like how a lot of it is not really cutting edge, but it definitely pushes the boundaries of 'typical' pop music a bit. Natural at Disaster I think is a great example of that. I can imagine some of the later songs will grow on me when I've had more time with them like with the singles, but this was a great album throughout. There were no bad songs, just degrees of good. And a lot of them were quite good!

King Princess - Girl Violence:

Girl Violence: If this intro track has done its job in setting the album up, it will be an album I do not like. It's incredibly bland and boring for basically its whole duration. Boring vocals, stale production, like I do not see anything special about it at all. It's okay-ish to listen to, mostly, I suppose? 4/10

Jaime: This feels like a generic alt pop type song to me. With the same vocals and same production. It's boring. Kinda generic sad-ish alt pop girlie core. Better attempt at it than the last track I suppose, as it has catchy parts. 6/10

Origin: Another boring song. It screams generic. Sadly. I guess kinda interesting vocals at the end? Children? That's one of the most interesting parts... 5/10

I Feel Pretty: Oh, kinda cool transition. I feel like this is a bit more interesting but like...in the complete wrong way. The vocals just sound a bit wrong to me, like they're off. Not super interesting other than that. 4/10

Cry Cry Cry: I feel like this song is better. It actually has a soul to me. It's not amazing but it does actually have interesting vocals and interesting production to it. It does scream indie pop with the guitar and everything, and it's nothing special, but it's at least something. 6/10

Get Your Heart Broken: This feels pretty similar to the last song, but worse. It just misses. I think it becomes bland and not interesting. It's just music that exists. 5/10

Girls: Yikesssss. What is this? It's no wonder I'm not interested in women if this is what the sonic representation of them is. Baddd. This song is bringing me to my knees, and not in the good way. It's both boring but also actively bad. It's slow, but not in a good way. Don't really like the vocals too. 4/10

Covers: Oh don't go being another boring song like that. It's alright though I suppose. The chorus has catchy parts. 5/10

Say What You Will (feat. Joe Talbot): Oh, this is an interlude type song? Interesting vocal effects. Oh, that feature, no... Some cool production though. I think it works well as an interlude. 6/10

RIP KP: This really reminds me of a particular song. I can't recall what it is. But I think it's an interesting one, and one I enjoy at least somewhat. Maybe it gives me a bit of ELIO, something like that? 6/10

Alone Again: I think this suffers from the generic curse again, but at least it's something. 6/10

Slow Down and Shut Up: Well, I want King Princess to do half of these things. It was boring again sadly. Just...bland as hell. I want this to be over. 5/10

Serena: Unfortunately, a bland and boring end to the album. ZZZ. Glad it's over. 5/10

Overall Verdict: This whole album was just incredibly bland and boring. It was incredibly one note, and rarely ventured outside of that box. It was a really typical, bland, boring "sad alt pop girl album", but if you want that sound, it is done better elsewhere. Here, it is just repetitive and boring. There is nothing special here. There's hints of something better in a fair bit of the album, but it's just not enough to redeem it.

Mimi Webb - Confessions:

My Go: Ehhh, I've heard this exact type of song so many times before. It's just the same old type of pop. Same vocals, same production. Like, no. I don't think I can ever get into artists that make this type of music. It feels a bit soulless to me. 5/10

Love Language: OOOOO. It's alright I suppose. Reminds me maybe a bit of Mabel in parts? It made it a decent enough song, honestly. Had catchy parts and the vocals work well. Still a bit...soulless. 6/10

Mind Reader (with Meghan Trainor): Not this flop. Go away. She makes every song worse. It's alright I suppose, no thanks to Meghan, who makes everything sound really cringe. 6/10

Narcissist: Omg a song for my dad, epic! Kinda sounds like Sabrina Carpenter in places. Again, this is alright, it's a pleasant listen, it's a typical pop song from these sorts of girlies. Still ended my dad though. Not sure what rating he'd get. 6/10

Kiss My Neck: Does me give something of a chill R&B leaning vibe. Again, it's perfectly fine, but it's nothing special. 6/10

I Love You For Me: Cringe intro. I do not like this sound at all. I think it reminds me of cringe artists for me like Caity Baser. Nope! 5/10

You Don't Look At Me The Same: Started a bit boring, but thankfully got more interesting. I enjoyed the buildup in production, and I think the vocals worked well. Bit of a poor transition into the last part of the song, is that a production error or something? Anyway, decent, but not amazing. 6/10

I Met A Boy: Kinda interesting production, at least towards the end, but it's nothing really that special. Again, I feel like I've heard this type of song so many times before. 6/10

Side Effects: A cute little bop. I'm not mega gagged by it, but I enjoyed it. It's pretty typical, but hey, it does that typical decently. There's an interesting instrument that reminds me a bit of like...One of Your Girls by Troye Sivan. Not really but also kinda. 6/10

Crashing Out: Ahhhh, it tried to be cool, but it failed. It just sounds too goofy. Look, I know goofy is likely part of the brand, but it's *too* goofy. I think this is the problem I have with Caity Baser too. It tries to do the "cool cunty buildup to the chorus" and it just doesn't do it well. 6/10

Rom Com: Yeah, this is pretty typical stuff. Decent, nothing special, I've heard it all before. 6/10

Confessions: Honestly, I feel like this may be the best song on the record. It critically has something of a soul to it. It sounds good. It's a fun chill bop! 7/10

Overall Verdict: Unfortunately, this lands solidly in the cringe alt pop girl category. Like, it's nothing special at all. I've heard this sound SO MANY times before. It's yet another fine execution of this sound, but artists who work in this genre and make songs that sound like this are never really going to majorly gag me I fear. It doesn't help working with the Queen of Cringe herself Meghan Trainor.

Sophie Ellis-Bextor - Perimenopop:

Relentless Love: You can be by my side whenever you want. Ohhh, interesting production. Feels like it has a bit of a summer vibe or something like that. Don't think it fits autumn really but oh well. Cool synths. Great voice. Ohhh, that's a BOP of a chorus! You know what, I was instantly bopping hard. Stunning start! 9/10

Vertigo: Ohhh, another bop? Yes please. This is good, but nowhere near as good as the last song. It doesn't have the bop perfection quite down. But it's a good song. And the vertigo hook does get you. Still, a good song. 7/10

Taste: Not sure I quite felt the layered vocals in places. Or that it ended Sabrina. Sabrina wins for once. Only time you'll hear me saying that. Still a good song though! 7/10

Stay On Me: I feel like this was the first kinda miss. Not that it's bad, I just didn't really feel it as much for some reason. It's still boppy but not quite there? 6/10

Dolce Vita: Another summer type of vibe. Why is she releasing this now? SMH. Good song! It's a chill and enjoyable bop. 7/10

Time: Not the obligatory slower song. Nooooo. This ended up being more boppy than I anticipated, which is good. Don't think the background vocals throughout the song really worked though. They felt a bit 'off' to me. Not sure why. Still, a good song! 7/10

Glamorous: Okay, that chorus is pretty good! Boppy as hell. The LIST ING OF WORDS really works well. Great chorus. Also, this song really made me think that Sophie Ellis-Bextor was destined for this type of music. Her voice really works well on it. 8/10

Freedom Of The Night: Another fantastic song. Really has the great boppy dancey energy the whole way through. Really catchy chorus. Just works well. 8/10

Layers: Another boppy song. Thought I was liking it more than I ended up liking it but it's still good. Catchy, boppy, dancey. Like always. Good stuff! 7/10

Diamond In The Dark: The spelling in the background didn't really work for me. But other than that, yet another good song! Bop! Might be getting a bit tired of it though so glad it's wrapping it up soon. 7/10

Heart Sing: Hmm, not entirely sure how I feel about this. It's got good parts but I relistened to it a few times and I was also like...eh? It hasn't really hit that much. 6/10

Don't Know What You've Got 'Til Its Gone: Nice voice here as ever. It's pleasant but I don't really think I majorly felt this? Nice chill ending to the album though. 6/10

Overall Verdict: This was an album that really shows Sophie's skills. It didn't quite match the highs of the first song, but it didn't really need to. It was solid disco and dance stuff the whole way through. It's music that she always has been fantastic at and yet again, it was good here. It's just a good time to have this album on, and I definitely will again in future. Plus, that first song was FANTASTIC!

Singles:

Alexandra Kay - What He Does: Going to be some sort of cutesy country song I imagine. Oh it mentions boots yep. It's a cute and pleasant listen. Pretty typical of the genre. Very nice voice too! I enjoyed it. 7/10

Allie X - Is There Anybody Out There?: A better question to ask would be can Allie X make music that I like? Interesting production flourishes. I like it so far. Honestly, good song! Maybe she does have it in her after all. 7/10

Ava August - Drive 95: Okay, another country song. This was a decent country song. Liked it. Good voice, fun production. 7/10

Bella Poarch - Don't Fear The Reaper: An amazing fan of my amazing work wanted this so I will include it (I missed it before). Well, it's a bop. Obvious bop. Good suggestion yet again. 8/10

Calum Scott & Whitney Houston - I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me): It's fine I suppose. Nice collab. Nice vocals. But like, it's obviously not as good as the solo one. 7/10

Cat Burns - Lavender: Kinda cringe way to sing lavender but I'll allow it. This was a boppy and enjoyable song! It's got some catchy production and a great voice. 7/10

CHINCHILLA - To Have & Hold: Hmm, not sure how to feel about this song. It's like I kinda like it and kinda don't? Both on the production and vocals front. 6/10

Cody Frost - SOMETIMESICAN'TFEELATHING: Real. Also I don't know where the fuck...Burnley is either? Oh, this is more heavy, I see. But not that heavy. Kinda reminds me of Cassyette or artists like her honestly. Good song! 7/10

Daya - Bandit: This was boppy! It reminds me of some dark pop type songs. I liked it! 7/10

Demi Lovato - Here All Night: Hopefully this will be a bop as well! Hmm, interesting vocals. Okay, when the chorus hits, that's the juice. That's what I wanted. It's boppy. I think it kinda gives me Ava Max vibes in places? I feel like it also reminds me of another song I can't place. Hate it when that happens. 8/10

Jazzy - Hypnotic: Oh, this is fun! Going to be a fun dance type track it seems. It was a fun dance track! Done well. Good production! 7/10

Kali Uchis - Cry About It! (ft. Ravyn Lenae): Pleasant listen. Some cool production flourishes. Good collab, it works well. Basically, good song. Bit abrupt ending. 7/10

Kesha & Orville Peck - Tennessee (ft. Hudson Mohawke & Tayla Parx): Ehhhh. I mean this was fine but I don't think I'll ever return to this. I fear we should have left the country behind with the song from Kesha's last album. 6/10

Luca George - brOKen: Luca George, the most attractive man to exist, would never fail me. Yet again, he delivered another great song. Love his gay heartbreak music! 8/10

piri & tommy - someone: I remember when I saw these two open for Charli XCX one time. Fun! Well, this is...not quite what I expected. Like, I remember a lot of boppy D&B type songs from them, and this is...not that. I guess it's pleasant and inoffensive enough? But eh. Whatever. 6/10

Rachel Chinouriri - What a Life: In a gag to myself I actually enjoyed this. Good vocals, and I think the production worked well with it. It was a good song! 7/10

Rose Gray - April: Fun start with a piano but it definitely won't stay like that. When the rest of the production starts coming in, you can tell it's going to be a BOPPPP. And it is! Rose Gray delivers some great music yet again. 8/10

Slayyyter - CANNIBALISM!: Honestly, at first listen, I was not sure I'd like this that much. But you know what, I now think I do. The chorus is obviously the best part, the part that was teased. This is why I don't pay attention to teasers damnit. Not as good as BEAT UP CHANEL$ but still good! 7/10

SONIKKU - Heatwave: This should be good! I hope! Interesting start. Fun production. Good, enjoyable song! 7/10
